Zhao Kang Awarded 2024 POMS College of SCM Best Student Paper

Zhao Kang, a PhD student in the OPAC group, has been named the winner of the 2024 POMS College of Supply Chain Management Best Student Paper Competition. His paper, titled "Robust Spare Parts Inventory Management" and co-authored with Ahmadreza Marandi, Rob Basten, and Ton de Kok, introduces innovative techniques for spare parts inventory that outperform existing methods. The research was conducted in collaboration with ASML, a leading supplier of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry.

The final-round Jury members were a distinguished international panel including Karen Donohue of the University of Minnesota, Jan Van Mieghem of Northwestern University, and Joel Goh of the National University of Singapore. The competition included strong finalists from other leading universities, with second place going to Zhikun Lu of Emory University and honorable mentions going to Irem Nur Keskin of Duke University and Piao Hu of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
