Program highlights
Highlight! Grand Opening Day Wednesday 6 December
Our grand opening on Wednesday 6 December at 12:30h is something not to be missed! With Christmas music and a special performance by the Figure skating Academy the Netherlands (FAN) on ice. Wednesday night will feature a POP-up Cinema with free POP-corn & Snert (traditional pea soup).
Highlight! WinTU/erdip ‘n Salsa
Wednesday 13 December
Dance the night away with Footloose. They move their dance evening to the WinTU/er village and open up Salsa workshops to everyone to beat that winter-dip!
Highlight! TU/e Dinner Show
Thursday 14 December
This year we are adding another element to the WinTU/er Village, especially for services, departments and divisions of the university: a limited number of people can attend our first ever Winter Village Dinner Show, under the theme “All TUgether now!”
The theme of the evening is collaboration. When we do things together, we get further, have more fun and get better results. To further underline the value of working together, this year we are collaborating with musical talents from our own TU/e Bigband Studentproof. Music is a great way to show what the effect of ‘together’ is and the whole evening works towards a dazzling grand finale. In terms of catering, we also provide elements that connect. We asked De Kort Catering to prepare a delicious three-course dinner together with Appèl. Finally, the entire WinTU/er Villagpe will be involved in the dinner show. The dinner itself will take place on the fairy-tale Village Square, right in front of the stage.
It is sold out! But you can find the menu & details here. Please contact Appèl for reservations in 2024. 2023 is already sold-out.
Highlight! NEXUS PhD Meetup
Friday 15 December
NEXUS is hosting a small party around the Ice Rink for all PhD’s at TU/e from 16:00h onwards. Allas no PhDJ’s that afternoon, but luckily we have Studentproofs ‘Jammer Man’ (what’s in a name!) on stage.
Highlight! Christmas Concert
Saturday 16 December
Quadrivium gives a very atmospheric Qerst Concert on Saturday 16 December at 20:00h. From the Nutcracker to Jingle Bells… enjoy all your favorite Christmas music! Tickets via https://www.esmgquadrivium.nl/2023/10/ensuite-qerst-qoncert-16-december-2023/.
Highlight! Childrens WinTU/er Market
Sunday 17 December
A special Childrens WinTU/er Market will take place on Sunday 17 December from 13:00-17:00h. Expect ‘schminken’ (face painting), great food, a creative corner, a magician on stage, Christmas carols, free ice-skating and a real Santa Claus.
Highlight! Plugged WinTU/er Edition
Wednesday 20 December
We close the market with a special indoor version of Plugged! Wednesday 20 December from 17:00 until 22:00. Drop by to listen to live music, get a drink with your colleagues or fellow students, and dance away in Christmas spirit. https://www.pluggedfestival.nl/winter-plugged/
Join the WinTU/er Village
As it is our WinTU/er Village, it means that we offer place to our community to organize activities or events. You let us know when and what, we provide a decorated place with basic facilities, you do ‘your thing’!
We have several options at the market:
Soup & Zopie’ Stube
Be a soup-erstar with everyones favourite winter soup: snert. This traditional Dutch Pea Soup (traditional or vegan) is thé ting to eat on cold, Dutch winter days. You can sell it, use it as a fundraiser, distribute it to promote an event/activity or… just for fun. We’ll arrange the soup with our soup-plier (haha) Appèl, you’ll pay per portion €1,25, which is the current wholesale price.
Do-it-your-Selfie Photo Booth
We provide a WinTU/er background and cool stuff to decorate, you bring your extra association stuff and your members for all those wonderful WinTU/er memories...
The Village Square
Will offer more space this year, so it is available for your activity! At the beautifully decorated square, you have a spot to organize your workshops, demo’s & activities. Almost everything is possible. About 50m² can be made available for any activity.
Village Stage
Our stage is available for performances! We increased the size (to 6x8m) so that more activities can take place. Music, demo’s, concerts, dances, home-alone marathons, maybe even a lunch lecture or award ceremony. We offer simple sound amplification in front of the village square. Wanna dance? We can remove some of our chairs in front of the stage for the more active afternoons. Space for 200-250 spectators.
Full take-over
If you like, you could fully ‘take over’ the WinTU/er Village with your own activity or party. Ask us about the possibilities.
We have a few slots open left. Check last-minute availability over here.
For timing purposes, we suggest you to schedule activities at the timeslots mentioned. Another idea? Contact Erik de Jong to share those ideas and we’ll try to fit it in.
