Currently the manure excess has reached new heights in the Netherlands, due to revised legislation. I will highlight how the inevitable requirement for manure treatment will benefit from the efficient nutrient separation through membranes.

Growing up surrounded by water, Marrit was intrigued by its properties and treatment with membranes. When friends in agriculture were challenged by manure excess, she was eager to pursue research on manure treatment with membranes.
