First degree teacher qualification

The ESoE offers the Science Education (SE) master program that combines substantial subject knowledge combined with didactic and pedagogical knowledge as embodied in practice in HAVO and VWO teaching in upper secondary education. The master's degree includes the qualification to 'teach in preparation for higher education' (in short: VHO teacher), which means that you are a qualified teacher for all classes in secondary education. The SE master can be followed for the school subjects chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics and Research & Design.

You can follow our teacher education programs in different ways:

• as a master's program subsequent to a related bachelor's program (normally 2 years);
• in combination with one of the other TU/e master's programs (double degree or Educational Track);
• after completion of a related master's program (normally 1 year);
• as a normal lateral entrant (OC&W) or as a Trainee in Education;
• in combination with a PhD study (customized).

De ESoE verzorgt de Master Science Education (SE). In deze opleiding wordt stevige vakinhoudelijke kennis gecombineerd met vakdidactische en pedagogische kennis die vorm krijgt in de lespraktijk in de bovenbouw van havo en vwo. Het diploma bevat de bevoegdheid tot ‘leraar voorbereidend hoger onderwijs’ (kortweg ‘leraar VHO’), wat wil zeggen dat je als leraar voor alle klassen van het voortgezet onderwijs en in het middelbaar beroepsonderwijs bevoegd bent. De master SE kan gevolgd worden voor de schoolvakken informatica, natuurkunde, Onderzoek & Ontwerpen, scheikunde en wiskunde.

Je kunt dit traject op verschillende manier volgen:

• als masteropleiding na een aanverwante bachelorstudie (regulier 2 jaar);
• in combinatie met een van de andere masteropleidingen aan de TU/e (bi-diplomering) of Educational Track;
• na afronding van een aanverwante masteropleiding (regulier 1 jaar);
• als reguliere zij-instromer (OC&W) of als Trainee in Onderwijs;
• in combinatie met een PhD-opleiding (maatwerk).
