Our mission is to exploit nonlinearities in control for realizing unparalleled performance of future high-tech systems.

Pushing performance through nonlinear control requires bringing engineering significance to deep mathematical results, and mathematical rigor to engineering solutions.

Nonlinear controllers can break away from linear design limitations and realize unparalleled performance of high-tech machines. Ironically, nonlinearities are often synonym to complexities, and usually avoided in controller design. Our research focuses on shifting this paradigm and exploit the potential of nonlinearities in control. We aim at developing nonlinear control solutions that on the one hand are supported by strong theoretical guarantees, but on the other hand are accompanied by accessible graphical and algorithmic methods for shaping nonlinear system performance. This combination should enable major breakthroughs in the productivity, precision, and robustness of mechatronic systems, while preserving the physical insights of the proposed controller designs.
