RESEARCH PROFILE
Justin Geerarts is currently pursuing a PhD with as subject the electromagnetic characterization of (millimeter-wave) antennas conducted using spherical anechoic chambers. The research focusses on the theory related to the near field acquisition of data and transforming this to the far field equivalents. He aims to advance the field of spherical characterization by decreasing the uncertainty related to such measurements, reducing the measurement time, as well as improving the data processing step, all through a modern view of the related spherical wave theory. Further interests lie in antenna array synthesis, electromagnetic theory and quantum mechanics.
Theory requires measurements for validation. However, we require theory to understand what we measure. My goal is to improve the measured accuracy through a solid understanding of electromagnetic theory.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Justin Geerarts received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees (both cum laude) in electrical engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven (TU/e), in 2021 and 2023, respectively. Where he is currently pursuing a PhD degree.
